We Are Dedicated to Your Hearing Health Care Needs

Hearing Aid Evaluations

There are many steps that are part of a hearing aid evaluation.  If you suspect that you might need a hearing aid, you will first need to have a diagnostic hearing evaluation.  At the time of the hearing evaluation, our audiologists will take a case history to determine how much your hearing problem impacts your day-to-day life as well as the lives of your family, friends and co-workers.  They will also want to know when and how your hearing loss started, if there is ringing in your ears (tinnitus) and if you experience dizziness. You may also have to provide some basic questions about your general health history and current medications.

The results from your hearing test will provide our audiologists with an outline of what sounds you may be missing, and the personal answers about how your hearing loss affects your daily life will add additional important information.  You may be referred to a medical doctor specializing in disorders of the ear if there are other medical conditions that our audiologists think should be addressed before hearing aids are recommended.

Hearing aids may be recommended for one or both ears.  Our audiologists will explain what sounds you are not hearing and what hearing aids can do to help.  They will help you choose the best hearing aid style, features and level of sophistication based on your degree of hearing loss, lifestyle, and financial circumstances.  You will be able to see various styles of hearing aids, and depending on your hearing loss, you may be able to try on actual hearing aids programmed to you specific hearing loss. The final decision on which hearing aids are purchased is your choice.

Once you make a decision to purchase hearing aids, impressions of your ears will be taken if you selected custom hearing aids or behind-the-ear hearing aids that require earmolds.  Hearing aids must usually be ordered from a manufacturer and then programmed by our audiologists at your hearing aid fitting. This process can take a few weeks, so do not be disappointed when you do not receive your hearing aids the same day as your evaluation.

Patient Testimonial

The day I discovered Northeast Houston Hearing was the day I was on my way to a hearing experience like I had never had before. Their service is the best I have ever experienced. And, I've been to 2 other providers over the years. My husband will be going to them too!

You may walk in as a client, but you will soon feel like a family member at Northeast Houston Hearing! Because, to them, you are family!”
